Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa rica-Studying at the Guest house

We have four ACCOMMODATIONS options for our Spanish School packages:
Camping, Hostel,  Homestay and Guest House. Our package prices are based on what type of accommodations you are choosing to stay in.   Please see price chart under PRICES (See left hand navigation).  Once you have chosen an accommodation option number, find your price based on the connecting columns of the number of classes you are planning to take and the accommodation option you have chosen.

For a beginners we suggest to spend the first week in our hotels and then move into the family once you have a bit more of the language down as it does become stressful with a new language, new culture, new food and a new family without having the language base to communicate!

We accept students of all levels from children aged 4 to adults that have not been in the learning circle for many years and everyone in between. Our average age is 22-37 and guests come from over 30 different countries each year.  We are also very popular amongst the older crowd due to our price and atmosphere.  We can set a course structure for beginners up to advanced putting the emphasis on what is important to you. We understand that every person has a different way of learning and different goals and that's what we want to you learn.

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-Spanish school immersion classes for children

Bringing your family to study in Costa Rica?

Family learning vacations are our specialty with our low cost packages, family discounts,  great homestay families and a small non touristy town.  Young students will have a chance for an unforgettable vacation!  Our classes are almost always one on one which makes us a great place for an alternative learning atmosphere and the small town mentality will allow your children to get back to basics and see the world in a different light!  The most important thing that makes it all work is your dedication to immersion in the language to get full benefit of the classes being playing soccer on the street or practicing in the local supermarket

The children’s classes are very active with games, arts and crafts, local walks and learning trips, puppet making and play dough all while absorbing and learning the new language.

Our Spanish School Costa Rica is located 5 minute WALK from hotels and homestay making getting around easy with no extras costs of taxis and buses to get to classes each day !
And...We have our own children's play room including a dress-up box to facilitate learning.

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa rica-Kids Spanish classesWe always suggest to have younger students in separate classes from adults as it really helps the learning filtration.   Children's classes would be set up to have in classroom time including, depending upon age, painting,  puppets, play dough making etc. to bring vocabulary and new language into use.  The teacher will then include short walks around town to alleviate in classroom time and to help with general conversation.

All accommodation options are available but staying with a family is a definite must for full immersion.  We would do our best to find a homestay family with children close to the same age as you children as this really encourages the student's integration.  Curriculum Objectives

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-learning outside the classroom

Do you have trouble learning?? Take classes with us as we can gear our classes to your needs. Our quiet setting is just perfect for those that need extra time and attention and our teachers are quite willing to give classes by the river etc. to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
Please let us know when booking.

Classes are offered from Monday to Friday giving you the weekends to enjoy and relax in the natural surroundings.  Our 3 hour Costa Rican Spanish classes, with a 15 minute break, run in 2 shifts from
8-11am, 12-3 pm and from 3-6 pm when seasonally available.
Class time schedules cannot be booked before hand unless based on working schedules or heath reasons.
Please take homework time, practice time and memorization time into account when making your daily schedule.  Most students put aside
at least a few hours for studying and practicing, leaving the rest for hiking and hanging out on the patio and around town!! Upon arrival on Sunday students will receive their learning materials and will have a chance to begin reviewing before classes on Monday.

The first two weeks of our time here in Costa Rica were in Orosi, studying Spanish and getting used to things. It's a beautiful little valley with some of the friendliest people around.

For beginners we suggest taking classes with other students of the same level to help with the intenseness of the classes .  The second student not only helps to make the class more interactive for beginner students, but also takes some of the pressure off the student allowing them to ease into learning that much quicker.  It will also give you someone else to do homework and study with.

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-Private lessons

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-Low cost Private lessonsWe suggest following the direction of our self made book, allowing students to gain a basic knowledge of present, past and future while practicing conversational skills throughout all classes so you can use what you have learned. Once the basics have been learned, the student can then set the direction towards more specific grammar or just conversation. If you choose conversation, classes can be based on specific grammatical points or just general conversation allowing the student to practice all grammar points together as it would normally occur in everyday conversation.

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-Classroom hikesWe receive many students that have already studied in universities or have taken classes at other schools here in Costa Rica and would like to apply their "grammatica" to more everyday conversation. Because our class size is small, the student can choose the learning style that fits his/her learning abilities.

Private Spanish classes can not be guaranteed for beginner students but are given as much as possible,
based on reservation space.  If there is enough space then priority is given to the students with the longest reservation.  3rd  week of study one on one classes guaranteed!!

Orosi Valley Spanish school, Hotel Montana Linda, Costa Rica-Spanish school Costa Rica-Spanish for all agesOur classes are taught by young motivated teachers that live within our little colonial towns.  Although our teachers are not university educated their personal training and many years of experience working with foreigners gives them an advantage that’s not to be overlooked.  Montaņa Linda’s teachers have given almost 27 000 classes to almost 6000 students in the past years.  Their classes consist of a combination of book learning, use of games, verb cue cards and articles, all in a fun learning environment allowing you to be able to speak all that you have learned.

Classes can be organized when not taking any of our accommodation packages with a 4 class minimum per week. If you continue for a while we'll work in a discount along the way!!

The site is pretty intense with info so read carefully and you'll find most of your questions will be answered on the site. More info needed?  Start clicking on the side navigation buttons or check out our FAQs.
Still stuck... be sure to give us specific questions when emailing.

How do we place you in classes? We do not use any form of testing at our school as we have found it is not the best way to judge a student's level. Many students can write or know their grammar but have troubles speaking and vice versa, so what we do is this. When checking in at our school building, we give you our book and ask you to start looking through it and think about what goals you have and your learning capacity.

From there we make groups, when applicable, ensuring that each student has the right type of classmate. We have found, in our experience, that it is very unlikely that more than three students are compatible, which is why we never go larger than three per class and usually private 1 on 1 Spanish classes, something that most schools can't say.

How many weeks of study will give you a good base? Well we have found that most beginners with good learning habits benefit most from our 3-week program. Remember that your 3rd week of study is guaranteed one on one classes and if you stay for the forth you can volunteer with us and get a 10% discount as well!!  A beginner during this time should gain the ability to form comprehendible sentences in the present tense, form questions both negative and affirmative, use forms of the future and past tenses, and a few other specific grammatical tenses and feel quite comfortable carrying on everyday conversations including understanding what is being said to you…. something that a lot of people forget.

Veggie Info Box

I do not eat meat or seafood; will this be a problem? No problem with being a vegetarian. If you're planning to eat in our restaurant "Gekko's" the kitchen is on sporadic hours so please check in to see the upcoming week's schedule before making any serious eating plans.   Both our Restaurant and restaurants in town can serve vegetarian meals, but be sure to let them know your details before ordering.  There is a great supermarket 3 blocks away from the school, hostel and guest house which has pretty much everything you could possibly need!!

I am a Vegan so I don't eat any meat or eggs or dairy. Is this too hard to accommodate? Eating in Gekko's or local restaurants might be a little hard but families can easily accommodate Vegans as long as you are willing to give them some ideas on what works best for you.  If you are in doubt then feel free to stay in the hostel or guest house where you can do your own cooking in our onsite guest kitchens.
