Spanish School Start dates & Technical details

We are open all year round. Course programs start every week with arrival on Sunday and first class on Monday. Spanish Classes are from Monday to Friday under normal circumstances. We ask all students to arrive on Sunday between
1-4 pm if staying in the Guest House or Hostel and between 1-3 pm if going into a homestay family to give us time to get organized before classes start on Monday. If your schedule happens to work out differently, please book in advance to give us enough time to work things out and to ensure that you don’t miss out.

Although we're open all year round we have different schedules over holidays, especially around Christmas and Easter. We normally have fewer teachers available and therefore fewer spots available, so please book at least one month in advance during these dates!!

Remember that in January, February, March and June, July and August we do have many Spanish immersion group trips coming in so you will need to be flexible with your schedule, neither shift can be guarantee, and in some circumstances your schedule will change throughout the week.

If you are concerned about booking a long stay in advance feel free to book for one week now and then add another after arriving. We would then apply the package price to the final price. Just be sure to let the school office know by Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning if you are interesting in continuing classes for the next week.

Cancellation fees: Please remember that ANY cancellation of classes
has a cancellation fee of $50.00 per person.

We are not accredited directly to any College or University but in many cases, credits are given if the school has granted permission before leaving. We suggest making all necessary steps to obtain permission from the appropriate officials at your university before beginning classes to be sure to receive academic credit for work done in Costa Rica. In most cases acceptation is required by your colleges or universities prior to leaving your home country. Once classes are completed we can give you a certificate of completion free of charge for all classes taken .

Planning to retire in Costa Rica but need some Spanish Classes first?
Our small classes, usually private, and prices are a great combination for retirees and long term students. You can choose the directions of the class and be sure to go at your own level. Guaranteed private lesson for 3rd week even in High season!

Late arrival
When do classes begin? Can I only start on Monday? Can I start LATER?

Only under pre approved situations do we allow bookings to be made for a mid week start, and this decision is based on at what time of the year and present availabilities. All information must be received on time.

Upon full authorization by email, we do allow a one day delay, meaning a Monday arrival and Monday afternoon or Tuesday class start due to incoming flight schedules if the incoming student is willing to have and pay for an airport pickup, our guarantee that you are on your way directly to us!! Mondays missed class is picked up on the Saturday. If your flight is arriving mid week there is no problem to stay at the hotel until your classes begin. There is a chance that we have extra Spanish class spaces left which at the point we can start classes early although it can never be guaranteed until the Monday prior,

The only other chance of having a mid week start is to call the office directly one week prior to your arrival to see how we are for space. If it should happen to work out the late starter student would not have a chance to request class times and would need to recover classes on our schedule to not interfere with new incoming students schedule.

SO.. your best bet is to make a booking with an arrival on Sunday and Monday class start day, and request earlier start and if we can work it out one week prior we'd be glad to help!

Can I take double classes?

All our standard package prices are 3 hours of class per day as our classes are almost always one on one which makes these 3 hours of class really intense. 4 hours is too much! Beginner students will find those three hours to be perfect without being overwhelming and frustrating. Although more hours might be appropriate for intermediate or advanced learners we suggest to better spend that time practicing conversationally within town. As long as we do have space you can add extra classes onto the package class hours.
