Montana Linda Reviews and testimonials
Well out of the many pages of "thank yous" and quotes from evals over the years we'll start with online links first:

GUIDE BOOKS

Orosi is home to one of Costa Rica´s best and least expensive Spanish language schools - Montana Linda. The school lures a steady stream of Gringos to Orosi, many of whom are seduced by the area and never end up returning home.    http://somuchworld.com/costa_rica/central_valley/orosi/travel_guide

Regrettably overlooked by most travelers scurrying away to the more touristed coasts, small and welcoming with its authentic village life and natural beauty, Orosi has a great deal to offer travelers. While the peaceful streets, amiable residents, and comfortable lodgings in the town of Orosi certainly deserve a visit, the true gems here are the nearby nature reserves, waterfalls, hot springs, and rivers. Orosi’s seclusion, tucked away among the coffee plantations of the Central Valley, make it well worth the trip from San José.
  • Montaña Linda (2533 3640; www.montanalinda.com), 200m south and 200m west of the southwest corner of the soccer field. A patchwork of tin and bamboo roofs and open-air sitting areas provide many opportunities to encounter wildlife. Guests love the shared hot-water bathrooms and kitchen with unlimited coffee (US$1). Book Spanish classes to get meals and a room included. Laundry US$6. Dorms US$7.50; singles US$15.00; doubles US$20; camping US$3 per person, with tent US$4. US$/¢.
  • Montaña Linda Guest House (2533 3640; www.montanalinda.com), up the street from Montaña Linda. If you seek private baths and killer mountainside views, try the Montaña Linda guest house. Laundry US$6. Guesthouse rooms US$30. US$/¢.

Where to stay: Head to the Montaña Linda hostel and bed and breakfast (2533-3640, fax 2533-1292, www.montanalinda.com)for the best rooms in town ($7.50 in the hostel, up to $30 for a nicely furnished room with breakfast for two). The friendly Dutch/Canadian couple who runs the place is the region’s best source of information, and can arrange for you to rent bikes, horses, or additional valley tours.

Quietly set against the valley, Montaña Linda (beautiful mountain) is a quiet retreat from the city. The budget hostel has clean and simple dorm and private rooms, with extra blankets for cool nights and a shared bathroom. The open-air kitchen and common area are relaxing places to meet fellow travelers along with the several cats and dogs that have found their home at the hostel. Also available at Montaña Linda is a beautiful guesthouse with two family rooms and two double rooms for $30.00 a night, camping for $2.00 a night, and a Spanish Language School which offers volunteer programs, home stays, a restaurant and tourist center.
