FAQ Reservations for classes |
|
How long before arriving should I start making my
reservation? |
|
Reservations are suggested as we are a small school, which
means we fill up fast. If it is for High Season or
with accommodations in the guest house 4 months in advance
and in general at least one month as it usually takes about
4 emails to make a final confirmation. If it is low
season 2-3 weeks is usually enough. We normally have a few
spaces until about one week before to accommodate last
minute clients but it cannot be guaranteed. Please remember
if your arrival date is within one week please call
directly!
|
|
How many
weeks should I reserve for at one time? |
|
3-4 weeks is the best as
it gives you a chance to not only learn new
material but put it all into real life
practice. 2 weeks in the hotel and 2
weeks in family is a great combination. If
you are concerned about booking a long stay
in advance feel free to book for one week
now and then add another on after arriving
and we would then apply the package price to
the final bill. Please remember that ANY
cancellation of classes does incur
cancellations fees. |

FAQ over
payments and Banking |
Is there an ATM in Orosi or do I get cash
from a bank?
I haven’t been using travelers
checks much. |
|
Yes there is an ATM in town, but it doesn't
always work for all card holders, most yes
but all no! The local bank, just
around the corner, changes
traveler’s checks and also allows for
Visa/MasterCard cash advance and other debit
banking. |
|
How do you want to be paid
for the guest house/food/language school? |
|
We only accept CASH in
Colones or dollars, your choice. |
|
Am
I best to pay with cash throughout my
travels? |
|
In general small
businesses DO charge more for the use of a
credit card...usually 7-10% extra. Many
small businesses will not take traveler’s
checks, unless you are in higher budget
hotels or restaurants, as banks hold them for
45 days and charge a high percentage
commission to get the cash back. Most
hotels and larger restaurants
take US
dollars but only in small denomination US$
bills. The best is to take out COLONES
from a bank machine when in larger towns and
then be dealing with just Colones in smaller
towns and for transport, park entrances fees
etc.
Note:
Most smaller businesses do not follow the
bank rate exactly and changing a US Dollar
traveler’s check into Colones is cheaper
then changing it into dollars as there is an extra fee
involved. |
