FAQ's about Reservations, Payments, Banking & Cancellation fees
General Details
Late arrival are feasible if all information is confirmed in advance via our email.
The room will be marked and the key will be in the door!!
If you find that you are running behind and will not make it by 5:00 pm
please let us know or else your reservation will become invalid.
We do not take reservations for class times in advance unless
work or health issues are involved.
Priority of class schedule goes to students already studying and those with the longest reservation.
One on one classes can not be guaranteed if student is a beginner +.  If student’s level dictates special attention then one on one classes are given as much as possible, but based on reservation space.  Guaranteed private classes for 3rd week.
Please remember that official arrival day is the Sunday (or earlier) before your Spanish Classes start on Monday.  Regular missed classes due to OUR error and Holiday replacement classes are replaced on OUR schedule.  Replacement classes are NORMALLY picked up on Saturdays, so please take this into consideration when planning your itinerary.  No refunds will be granted for missed nights, hours or classes YOU have chosen not to receive or if YOU do not accept the replacement schedule given.  Any extra nights outside of the regular package, including nights needed to recuperate classes, are placed in one of our hotels and are charged as extras.

FAQ Reservations for classes

How long before arriving should I start making my reservation?
Reservations are suggested as we are a small school, which means we fill up fast.  Generally one month in advance as it usually takes about 4 emails to make a final confirmation and 3 months in advance if it is for High Season or with accommodations in the guest house.  We normally have a few spaces until about one week before to accommodate last minute clients but it cannot be guaranteed. Please remember if your arrival date is within one week please call the office directly!
How many weeks should I reserve for at one time?
3-4 weeks is the best as it gives you a chance to not only learn new material but also put it into real life practice.  2 weeks in the hotel and 2 weeks in family is a great combination. If you are concerned about booking a long stay in advance feel free to book for one week now and then add another on after arriving and we would then apply the package price to the final bill. Please remember that ANY cancellation from your original reservation does incur cancellations fees.

FAQ over payments and Banking

Is there an ATM in Orosi or do I get cash from inside a bank? I can't be bothered using travelers checks.
Yes there is an ATM in town, but it doesn't always work for all card holders, most yes but all no!  The local bank, just around the corner, changes traveler’s checks and also allows for Visa/MasterCard cash advance and other debit banking.
How do you want to be paid for the guest house/food/language school?
We only accept CASH in Colones or dollars, your choice.
Am I best to pay with cash throughout my travels?
In general small businesses DO charge more for the use of a credit card...usually 7-10% extra. Many small businesses will not take traveler’s checks as banks hold them for 45 days and charge a high percentage commission to get the cash back. Higher budget hotels or restaurants will but often charge a fee.  Most hotels and larger restaurants take US dollars but only in small denomination US$ bills.  The best is to take out COLONES from a bank machine when in larger towns and then be dealing with just Colones in smaller towns and for transport, park entrances fees etc. Note: Most smaller businesses do not follow the bank rate exactly and changing a US Dollar traveler’s check into Colones is cheaper then changing it into dollars as there is an extra fee involved.
