| When calling to Costa Rica from international destinations you must remember to Dial your local international code before dialing our number usually, 011 for north America or 001 for Europe then the country code 506 and the local number. If you're reaching Canada then you've forgotten to use international code. If you hear a Spanish voice mail it could be the business' box or it could also be the default voice message for the busy signal for that telephone number. Be sure to listen for the business name and if not try again as the line may be just busy. | ||

Communication: Montaña Linda offers a phone for placing calls in Costa Rica and offers international calling cards and international Skype calls. Faxes can be made at the local supermarket. The town of Orosi, also, offers many Internet cafes, allowing you to keep in touch. | |

Laundry: Laundry services are available for guests and non guests including washing and drying directly at the Montana Linda Youth Hostel. | |

Water: Don't worry too much about the water in Orosi. Our area supplies water to the San José and Heredia areas, making it well monitored and quite safe to drink. We do suggest thought to wean onto it slowly as too many changes to the body at the same time can cause stomach upset. | |

Bikes:
Orosi has bikes for rent! See prices for prices.
Rentals are available per hour or per day. There are many trails in this valley,
some of
which are suitable for bikes and other which are not, but
the bike opportunity will allow you "to reach out and touch", that much more and stay within
budget!! |

Bank: There is a bank here in town located 2 minutes away from the hotel and Spanish School. There is an ATM at the bank but the bank machine does not always work with all international cards, most yes but all no! If for some reason it doesn't work then the next machines are in Paraíso which is a 15 minute bus ride away. | |

Tourist Info: Montaña Linda & Otiac are also the local Tourist Information Centers. Please feel free to drop by, even if you are not staying with us and we will be quite willing to set up tours or supply you with any necessary information. | |

Airport Pick-up: Airport pick-up is available at any time of the day 7 days a week. See prices for prices. Please remember to email your airline company, flight number and expected time of arrival. If your arrival date is within 1 week please call the office directly! Upon arrival just look for a sign with your name on it at the left hand side of the exit. | |

Rent a car: Rent a car can be done upon arrival in Orosi or prior to departure. We work with Mapache and can get you a good price when done through us. Please remember to mention "Montaña Linda in Orosi de Cartago" when doing online booking to receive free drop off in Orosi on all rentals of 4 days or more. | |

Voltage: The electrical voltage in Costa Rica is 110. Electrical transformers can be purchased in various electronic stores. | |

Post Office: The "Otiac" office has the official post office for both stamps and mailing!! See below for instructions on receiving incoming mail at Montana Linda. | |

Incoming mail:
to Costa Rica can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2
months, so we suggest that nothing important be sent via regular
mail.
DHL and Fedex DO NOT come into the valley even thought they will normally tell you that they do!! DHL will allow package to be dropped of at the Jimenez and Tanzi in Cartago if that address is put as a C/O... if not most packages will be left in their San Jose/Heredia offices and would have to be picked up there. For direct mail to Montaña Linda or Otiac you must include direct address: Recipients name, C/O Otiac/Montaña Linda, 300 metros sur de la Iglesia Catholica de Orosi, Orosi centro, Paraiso, Cartago, Costa Rica, Central America All packages bigger than a shoe box size will be held at customs in San Jose and must be picked up personally by the recipient and most Costa Ricans do not know how to go through the process. The retrieval process takes about 2 hours and costs. The best would be to keep the package down in size or pack it in a soft envelope covered with clear tape etc. Please be sure to have a return address on the back or else post will be thrown out instead of sent back! And Remember: We do not hold mail for guests after they've left and we check the mail only once every 2 weeks. |
