bathrooms and 4 showers. Yes the showers have hot
water and there are flush toilets. In town there is
access to telephones and internet and wifi is
available in the Otiac building. The rooms
do not have mosquito nets as it is not a problem
here in the area |
|

|
No at this moment we do not have lockers. If you
are concerned about your belonging then we would
suggest to pay the extra difference and have a
private room so only you will have the only key. |
|
Is the hostel quiet or rowdy at night? |
|
Normally the youth hostel is quiet during the
day as most people are studying or hiking but
this depends upon the guests at night. Official
quiet time on the patio is 10 pm and we do ask
guests to continue their fun in the local bars
if they are still going after 10 pm. |

the coffee we charge the same amount. |

organize activities themselves? |

Malaria pills for Orosi? |
|
Although there are a few mosquitoes a mosquito net
is not really necessary. There is no malaria in the
area due to the temperature. Malaria pills are
necessary if you are planning to travel in very
rural areas in Costa Rica. |
|
Can I arrive outside of the 5 pm check in time? |
|
Reservations go
void after 6pm unless we are notified
24 hours in advance. Late arrivals must let us know when making the
reservation and it’s no problem as long as
everything is organized in advance. We’ll leave a
map on the reception/front door with room info.
The key will be in the door.

FAQ about HOMESTAY
Stays |
|
I would like more language immersion but I am
afraid that my level of Spanish is not that
high. Can I switch back to the hotels
after I’ve tried it out? |
|
Homestay are a great help with your Spanish and give you an insight to
Costa Rican life that can only be experienced while living in a family,
but we do suggest that you have a base before moving in. Your best bet
is to start in the hotel for at least the 1
week and move to a family only when you are ready both with nerves and
language skills as it can be very offensive to the family to enter and
then leave after a few days. |
|
What are some advantages of the Homestay? |
|
Homestay are a great help with your
Spanish and give you an insight on Costa Rican life that can only be

|
I would like to bring something for my
family...what do you suggest? |
|
Bringing a gift is very nice to do. I usually
suggest something that shows your country or local area... calendar or
photo book, but food is always good as well. |
|
What is included in the homestay package? |
|
Nights, breakfast and dinners are included
in the homestay package price. All family housing is in a private
room and meals are eaten in the family house. Laundry is separate
at $6.00 per load. |
|
Do the homes have a garden etc to be able to "Get
away" with out leaving the house? |
|
Most houses do not have a lot of garden space so
getting away should be done while out of the house. Hiking before
or after class is great and why not ask your family to join you? |
|
What economical class are the host families? |
|
Most Costa Rican families are middle class.
