Our Volunteer Teaching Program: will be offered 2 nights a week, with one extra night for language exchange.  Volunteers will be expected to volunteer 2 nights giving classes and 1 night for language exchange.  The schedule will be as follows:

Help make a difference! Our onsite school and great community connections allows us the wonderful opportunity each month to be able to give a bit back to the community that so gracefully hosts you... our guests each year.

Each Volunteer will be organized into one of the exsisting age based groups.  

Mother and Child: Will be with children from ages 4-6 and will in most cases be both mother and child's first experience with English.

Grade school and High school: English is still very simple and will be based mainly on conversation and helping students to comprehend grammar issues that they have already been taught but do not understand. 

High school 1 will be the lower level students that we would like to be able to help further before they get lost in the system.  High school 2 are students that need to have better preparation for the practical use of the language be it for helping them actually make the grade to continue in University etc or to just give them more confidence for those that will be using it in the workforce.

Teaching Program requirements: Volunteers do not need to have any teaching certificates or experience, but a good grasp of the English language and the desire to teach is a prerequesite.  Volunteers will need to arrive the thursday prior for Friday seminar and Friday night Spanish/English language exchange program when new teachers will meet last months teachers and their students and review teaching logs etc.  Please remember to copy and include in the questions or remarks area of your signup email the following form.

Youth Hostel Host Program

Our Youth Hostel Host Program: will be offered to one person every 2 months.  This person will be responsible for checking in guests and miscelanious after hours details.  Volunteer hours per day are from 5:30-9:30 pm and any help the guest might need during the day.  Offered with this is free Room and Breakfast and a 10% discount on any classes taken.

Group Volunteer Programming

Group Volunteer Programming: Our community service programs are booked for groups only and are normally based in the social area usually teaching or assisting in schools or in educational type programs in form of volunteering for classes or doing actually pyhsical work in repairs or simple building.  For a breakdown of what we cn setup for your group please click on thelink below to see our options.  If you are prompted for a password just close the box and the document will open.  The document can also be saved for future reference.

Volunteer postings within town

Volunteer postings within town: These postings are specific and change periodically.  Individual volunteer programs we offer are based in the social area usually teaching or assisting in schools or in educational type programs.  Starting February 2007 we can have you placed for a minimum of 2 weeks in the private bilingual school.  The local nutricion will also take volunteers but it cannot be booked until arrival inOrosi.  If you’re interested in doing some other type of volunteer work while here in Orosi, you’d need to see what’s available once you’re here in town.
